Trong bài viết trước Mầm đã giới thiệu đến ba mẹ 100 sách thiếu nhi hay nhất do Tạp chí Time lựa chọn. Trong bài viết này, Mầm tiếp tục gửi đến ba mẹ Danh sách 100 sách hay nhất cho lứa tuổi thiếu niên (lớp 8 - lớp 12), hay còn gọi là Young Adult Book, đã được Time lựa chọn kĩ lưỡng.
Giai đoạn thiếu niên là một giai đoạn vô cùng quan trọng vì đó là khi các em bắt đầu bước ra khỏi vòng tay cha mẹ để tự tìm hiểu thế giới xung quanh và tìm hiểu chính bản thân mình. Sách truyện dành riêng cho lứa tuổi này sẽ đóng một vai trò vô cùng quan trọng trong việc định hướng và hỗ trợ các em trong quá trình tìm hiểu thế giới. Tạp chí Time cùng với một hội đồng giám khảo là tác giả sách dành cho lứa tuổi này đã lần đầu lựa chọn 100 cuốn sách hay nhất vào năm 2015. Sau đó, dựa vào phản hồi của các biên tập viên, các tác giả và nhu cầu đối với những cuốn sách mang đến nhiều trải nghiệm đa dạng hơn nữa, tạp chí Time đã cập nhật lại danh sách này vào năm 2017. Hội đồng giám khảo lựa chọn sách gồm có các tác giả sách thiếu niên nổi tiếng như Kacen Callendar, Jenny Han, Acevedo, Reynolds, Silvera, Thomas và Yoon. Ngoài ra, tạp chí Time còn tiến hành các nghiên cứu về mức độ ảnh hưởng của sách lên cảm xúc, tư duy phản biện và mức độ yêu thích của các em để lựa chọn sách.
